The laser emits concentrated light absorbed by the melanin (pigment) in each hair follicle. The heat destroys the follicle's ability to produce new hair without damaging the surrounding skin. Over multiple sessions, follicles are permanently disabled, and hair growth is significantly reduced.

Most clients see 70–90% reduction after 6–8 sessions. Hair grows in cycles — the laser only targets follicles in the active (anagen) growth phase, which is about 20–30% of follicles at any time. Sessions are spaced 4–8 weeks apart to catch each cycle. Some areas (like the face or hormonal zones) may require maintenance sessions.

Laser hair removal produces permanent hair reduction. The destroyed follicles never regenerate. However, hormonal changes (pregnancy, PCOS, menopause) can stimulate dormant follicles over time. Most clients need only 1–2 touch-up sessions per year after completing their initial package.

The GentleMax Pro includes a patented Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) that sprays a burst of cryogen onto the skin just before each laser pulse — most clients describe it as a rubber band snap followed by immediate cooling. Active tans (sun or spray tan) increase the risk of burns and pigmentation changes. We recommend avoiding sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before and after treatment, and always applying SPF 30+ to treated areas. We assess each client's skin tone at consultation and adjust laser settings accordingly for maximum safety.

All skin tones from Fitzpatrick I (very fair) to Fitzpatrick VI (very dark). The GentleMax Pro is specifically designed to handle the full spectrum. We customize the wavelength, fluence, and pulse duration for each client during a free consultation.

We do not treat active skin infections, open wounds, or areas with keloid-prone scarring without medical clearance. Pregnant clients should postpone laser treatments. Clients on certain medications (isotretinoin/Accutane, photosensitizing antibiotics) must wait before treatment. We review your medical history at the free consultation.

No. Laser hair removal uses non-ionizing light (unlike X-rays or UV radiation). The laser light does not penetrate beyond the dermis and has no documented link to cancer. The FDA has cleared laser hair removal devices as safe when used properly by trained professionals.

Shave the treatment area 24 hours before your appointment (not wax or pluck — the follicle must be intact). Arrive with clean, product-free skin. Avoid sun exposure and self-tanner for 2 weeks prior. Skip retinoids and exfoliants 48 hours before. Stay hydrated. Arrive 10 minutes early for your first visit so we can complete intake paperwork.

Do not wax, tweeze, or use depilatory creams for 4–6 weeks before treatment (these remove the follicle the laser needs to target). Do not tan or use self-tanner. Do not apply numbing creams without our guidance. Do not take blood thinners (like ibuprofen) on the day of treatment.

Mild redness and a sunburn-like sensation are normal and typically resolve within 24–48 hours. The treated hair will "shed" (fall out) over 1–3 weeks — this is the destroyed follicle releasing. Avoid heat (saunas, hot tubs, intense exercise) for 24 hours. Apply aloe vera gel and SPF 30+. Do not pick or scratch the area.

Treated hairs shed within 1–3 weeks after your session. You may notice hairs "growing" — they are actually dead hairs being pushed out by the follicle. Gentle exfoliation after 2 weeks helps clear them. Do not wax or tweeze between sessions; shaving is fine.
